Awards Program

Contesting is a fun aspect of our radio sport - a "contact" sport indeed! One of the Club's objectives is to get more of our members involved in HF activity while also supporting the Club's contest goals.

The "I Worked the PIG" Award
To encourage event participation, we are offering a certificate to recognize those members who have three or more QSOs with W7PIG during a specific event. The criteria for the "I worked the PIG" award is as follows:

1. must be an SCARC club member in good standing and
2. must make a minimum of three "qualifying" contacts with W7PIG and
3. all contacts must be during a specific event (such as Field Day (summer), Field Day (winter), US Islands QP, etc.).

A "qualifying" contact would be an exchange of info consistent with the event, each contact would have to be on a different band or mode. To clarify, 1 contact on each of three bands using the same mode OR 3 contacts on the same band but different modes (phone, CW, digital) OR a mix of these, all during the same event, would qualify. Thus each event each year will have a separate Award Certificate available. All contacts must be on HF or 6 meter bands.

To receive a certificate, send a list of your qualifying contacts including the date/time(z), band, mode and exchange to KK6SUE-Sue. Contacts made prior to the creation of this award (Aug 10, 2020) are excluded.

There will be an endorsement for those who made 10 qualifying contacts or more as well. You will receive a certificate and acknowledgement on the Monday Night Net, at the General Meeting and on the Awards section of our website. Let’s get out there and enjoy contesting!!
