Field Day 2023
June 24, 25
Amateur Radio in the field! One of the largest ham radio events of the year,
Field Day is an emergency operations exercise.
Location for 2023 was the Arrowhead Ranch
located at 615 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island, WA 98282.
Field Day began at 11AM on Saturday, continued until 11AM on Sunday, and was open to the public
from noon until 5PM on Saturday.
There was an educational program at 1PM on Saturday and a Get-On-The-Air (GOTA) radio station
(callsign KJ7FGG) for those who liked to try Ham Radio out!
Fred - N7KRN wrote "Our set-up on Friday went smoothly with the wind waiting until evening to
blow. It had calmed down again by Saturday and we enjoyed nice weather
throughout the contest. A number of visitors came by and the GOTA station was busy all
afternoon. The 20, 15, and 40 Meter bands were working well, so we had a lot of fun
and made an impressive number of contacts. We enjoyed an enormous bounty of food at
the potluck - including some fabulous smoked BBQ brought by Paige. We had great club
member participation with a lot of hard work put into this. You are all Super Hero’s!"
Dave - AL2I "Sends his thanks to all who showed his grandaughter a good time at Field
Day. She was so excited and wanted to get her license “Tomorrow”! Really appreciated
how the club members worked hard to support this activity."
Rick - KG7PMV commented he "Had a great time – especially liked Paige’s brisket at the
potluck! Time to start planning for Winter FD."
Chris - KF7HSH "thanked the club for conducting the FD exercise and welcoming,
informing and helping visitors with Ham Radio questions."
At least two club members qualified for the "I Worked the Pig" Award during this
event! Be sure to submit your contact info to get your certificate. QSL cards are
also available.
Information on QSO numbers and score will be added when available.
