SCARC Board Meeting

Board Meetings are regularly held on the 1st Thursday of each month. They begin at 6PM and are held in the Stanwood Library Meeting Room, 9701 271st St NW, Stanwood, WA

Amateur Radio Examinations

The Stanwood/Camano area VE testing sessions are held at 7PM on the 3rd Monday of alternating months beginning each year in January.
Location: Cedarhome Baptist Church, 29000 68th Ave NW, Stanwood, WA 98292
Our sessions are held in the ground floor classroom of a detached building on the North side of the campus. An FCC Registration Number, picture ID and $15.00 (cash) are needed to take exams. Contact: w7pig@arrl.net

Amateur Radio Field Day

Field Day is now a twice a year event. Amateur Radio in the field! Field Day is an emergency operations exercise. However, it also raises awareness of Amateur Radio by the public and its value to the community in the event of disaster. The Summer event is one of the largest ham radio events of the year. The Winter exercise is a relatively new event. Come out, join in the fun, support the club and learn new skills.

Winter Field Day: January 24-25, 2026 – from 11 AM local time Saturday to to 11 AM local time on Sunday. Location for our 2025 Winter Field Day club station will be off of N. Can Ku Road on Camano Island. The Winter Field Day Association sponsors this emergency communications exercise. http://www.winterfieldday.com
Purpose: To foster Ham camaraderie, field operation, emergency operating preparedness, and just plain on the air, outdoor fun in the midst of winter for American, Canadian, and DX Hams. Don’t let those winter doldrums keep you locked up in the house... get out and play some radio!!
When: Winter Field Day runs for 24 hours during the last full weekend in January each year from 1900 UTC (11am PST) Saturday to 1900 UTC (11am PST) Sunday. Station set-up may commence no earlier than 1900 UTC (11am PST) on the Friday before. Station setup may consume no more than 12 hours total. How & when you schedule/spend those 12 hours is up to you.
Bands: All Amateur bands, HF, VHF, & UHF except 12, 17, 30 and 60 meters. Modes: Any mode that can faithfully transmit the exchange intact without a conversion table... CW, SSB, AM, FM, DStar, C4FM, DMR, Packet, PSK, SSTV, RTTY, Olivia, Satellite, etc... (note FT8 & FT4 cannot)

Summer Field Day: June 27-28, 2026: Location: The Arrowhead Ranch - 615 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island. Set-up will begin at NOON on Friday June 26th. The contest begins at 11:00 AM Saturday and ends at 11:00 AM Sunday.
This is another opportunity for club members to contact the club station on the air and earn the " I worked the Pig " Award. For more information about participation from home, or other questions about our Field Day event, contact the Club at W7PIG@yahoo.com

US Islands Contest

August 22, 2026. This is a great opportunity for the club to work together and compete. The contest objective is for non-island stations to work as many North American Islands as possible in a relatively short period (only 15 hours) on the 4th Saturday in August beginning at 1200Z. For Island stations, the goal is to work other islands and as many other stations as possible. Precise rules to be determined. In 2015, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2023, the club operated from Camano Island (K7IOC's QTH). HF Mobile stations to act as rovers are especially encouraged to participate in support of the club. Does anyone have a boat? If you are interested in operating from any of the many islands in the greater Puget Sound region, please let us know early so we may include you in our operating plans. Note: everyone, especially those living on Camano Island and other nearby islands are strongly encouraged to make at least one contact with W7PIG during this contest. Club members are eligible for the " I worked the Pig " Award. See the Awards page for more details.

SCARC Officer Elections in September

Every September at the Club meeting, an election is held to select officers for the coming year. The effective date begins immediately following this meeting. Nominees may be submitted at the meeting. However, nominations by the previous meeting are encouraged.

SCARC Annual Christmas Party

Dec 17, 2026 Thursday

In place of our Club's Regular Meeting each December, we host our annual Christmas party. Presentations include the year in review. There will probably be an interactive game. Perhaps a raffle. Please join us for a fun, entertaining and informative evening! This year's party will be held at Stanwood United Methodist Church, located at the corner of 102nd Dr and 271st NW, Stanwood, WA. 98292.
Festivities should begin around 5:00PM with the dinner starting abpit 6:30. This party is open to all SCARC members, families and guests. Bring them all! Visiting Amateur Radio Operators are also invited, as well as any ARRL Officials and BEARON's Members.

This is a POTLUCK EVENT with no restrictions on what you should contribute. Whatever dish or dessert is your favorite will be welcome!

SCARC will supply ham as the main dish as well as the Christmas Punch, coffee and tea.

Activities during the evening will likely include the following:

- Special W7PIG slide/video presentation
- Door prize Drawings
- Live Music

This is always a fun event. Members, friends and families are all welcom to attend.

Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable donation for the food bank.
